Best Dividend Portfolio Tracker 2026: The Features That Actually Matter

By Benjamin Siegel • Published October 27, 2026 • TopDividendTools.com

The best dividend portfolio tracker for most investors in 2026 is Snowball Analytics, because it was built around dividends: income projections, a payout calendar, yield on cost and dividend alerts in one dashboard. Sharesight is the better pick if you need true total returns and tax reports, Stock Events is the best value at $49.99 a year, and Simply Safe Dividends is worth it if you own a lot of individual stocks and fear dividend cuts.

But "best" depends on which features you actually use. So instead of another ranked list, I'm breaking down the seven dividend tracking features that matter, which trackers do each one well, and what you pay to unlock them. If you only want free options, I covered those in my guide to the best free dividend trackers. This one includes the paid plans, because that's where most of the good features live.

Tracking income ETFs? A tracker shows what you own. TopDividendETFsPRO helps you decide what to own: advanced filtering, ratings, live yields and price decay flags for 130+ income ETFs. From $12.95/mo, or lifetime access.

The 7 Dividend Tracking Features That Actually Matter

I've been tracking my dividend income for over ten years, first in spreadsheets, then in apps. Here's what I actually look at, in order of how much it matters:

  1. Forward income projection. What will my portfolio pay over the next 12 months? This is the number that tells you how close you are to covering your bills.
  2. A dividend calendar. Which payments land this month and when. Great for planning, and honestly great for motivation.
  3. Yield on cost. Your yield based on what you paid, not today's price. It shows how dividend growth rewards you for holding.
  4. Automatic dividends and broker sync. If you have to type in every payment, you'll quit. Ask me how I know.
  5. DRIP and total return tracking. Did reinvesting actually grow your share count, and is your total return positive once price changes are counted?
  6. Dividend safety signals and alerts. A heads-up when a company cuts, raises or changes its dividend.
  7. Tax reports. Dividend income reports, withholding tax on foreign stocks, and something you can hand your accountant.

This is the part most people miss: no tracker is the best at all seven. You're really choosing which two or three you care about most.

Which Trackers Offer the Best Dividend Tracking Features?

Here's who wins each of the seven features, and why.

Forward income projection: Snowball Analytics

This is Snowball's whole reason to exist. It projects the income your holdings should pay over the next year and shows it month by month, so you can see your "dividend paycheck" growing. It's the feature I'd miss most if I switched.

Sharesight has a Future Income report too, but only on Standard ($18 a month billed annually) and Premium. Simply Safe Dividends also includes an income forecast. To see where your income could be in 10 or 20 years with reinvesting and new deposits, a projection tool like DividendProjection.com goes further than any tracker.

Dividend calendar: Snowball, Stock Events and getquin

All three put your upcoming payouts on a calendar. Snowball includes it on the free plan. Stock Events is known for having one of the cleanest calendar screens out there, and getquin's dividend calendar is built in as well. If you want a calendar for stocks you don't own yet, I compared the options in my best dividend calendar guide.

Yield on cost: Snowball Analytics

Snowball shows yield on cost on every plan, free included. I love this metric for dividend growth holdings like $SCHD. Your yield based on today's price might be 3%, but if you bought years ago and the dividend kept growing, your yield on what you paid can be much higher. That's the reward for patience, and it's nice to see it.

Broker sync: getquin and Stock Events Connect

getquin says it connects to more than 2,000 banks and brokers, which is why it's popular with people who don't want to type anything in. Stock Events offers syncing through its Connect add-on at $0.99 a week, and Snowball lets you link your brokerage on paid plans (the free plan imports broker reports instead). Sharesight leans on importing trade confirmation emails, which works well once it's set up.

DRIP and total return: Sharesight

If you reinvest dividends, Sharesight is the most precise. It handles dividends automatically and shows your true return including reinvested income and currency moves. That matters more than people think. A fund paying you 12% means nothing if the share price fell 15%. I went deeper on this in Snowball Analytics vs Sharesight.

Dividend safety and alerts: Simply Safe Dividends

Nobody does this better. Simply Safe Dividends gives every stock a Dividend Safety Score and alerts you when a dividend changes. It's $468 a year, annual only, with a free trial (no card) and a 60-day money-back guarantee for first-time subscribers. If you own 30 individual dividend stocks, avoiding one surprise cut can pay for it. If you mostly own ETFs, you won't use much of it.

Snowball's paid plans include a dividend rating and dividend event alerts, which is a lighter version of the same idea.

Tax reports: Sharesight

Every paid Sharesight plan includes tax reports, and that's its biggest edge over everyone else on this list. Snowball handles custom withholding tax on foreign dividends but isn't a tax reporting tool. If tax season is a headache, this one decision can save you hours.

My honest take: I don't need the most features. I need the number I check every month, my forward 12-month dividend income, to be accurate and easy to see. Pick the tracker that makes your one key number effortless, and ignore the rest of the bells and whistles.

The Best Dividend Tracker for Each Type of Investor

Already on Snowball and thinking of leaving? My list of Snowball Analytics alternatives goes through each option by the reason you're switching.

Free vs Paid: Is a Paid Dividend Tracker Worth It?

Here's how I think about it. Snowball and Sharesight both cap free plans at 10 holdings, and Stock Events at 15. If you own a handful of ETFs, like $SCHD, $JEPI and a couple of others, the free plans are plenty. Don't pay for something you don't need.

Once you're past 10 to 15 positions, or you want broker syncing, you're going to pay something. $49.99 to $79.99 a year is about what a $2,000 to $2,700 position in a 3% yielder pays you in a year. If a tracker keeps you consistent with investing and reinvesting, that's an easy trade. If it just sits there, it's not.

And $468 a year for Simply Safe Dividends only makes sense with a big individual stock portfolio. At that price, I'd rather the money go into another dividend payer unless I really need the research.

What No Tracker Will Tell You

Trackers are great at showing what you already own. They're terrible at telling you whether you should own it. A tracker will happily show a high-yield ETF paying you every month while its share price slides and quietly eats your principal.

That's why before I add any income ETF, I check its total return and price decay first. I built TopDividendETFsPRO to show exactly that for 130+ income ETFs, and there's a free version of that view on TopDividendETFs.com. If you want to get paid more often, MonthlyETFs.com and WeeklyETFs.com track the monthly and weekly payers.

For the rest of your toolkit, use one of the best dividend screeners to find ideas and one of the best DRIP calculators to model what reinvesting does over time.
